The Dauphin Installation

Fans of Charlotte Dauphin de la Rochefoucauld’s architectural fine jewelry line Dauphin are in for a real New York Fashion Week treat, as the designer unveils her new installation at Dover Street Market. De la Rochefoucauld, who exclusively sells at DSM in New York, has taken the shape of her iconic open cycle rings and blown them up into life-sized corten steel display cases. “I thought it was interesting to study how the function of an object changes depending on the scale of it and the material as well,” the designer explains. “Gold is as flexible as corten steel,” she adds. In addition to housing her latest collection, the sculptural displays will also show off six exclusive new designs created specifically for the event. “It’s the first time I’m working with this very dark black rhodium,” she says, pointing to an open ring with a house-shaped diamond—a luxe homage to DSM’s logo. “All the colors, because they are neutral, can mix really well with each other, like the rose with the blue is really fantastic and obviously the black and white. You can create your own sets or mix simple ones with preconceived sets. It’s really, really playful!”
