Dutch-Guyanese model Nirvana Naves is a girl on the go. In just two seasons, she's amassed an impressive track record modeling for Lanvin, Chloé, Sacai, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, Prada — and, of course, for Jonathan Anderson, the designer who cast her in her debut, at both his eponymous label and at Loewe. She walked all four major fashion weeks during the Fall 2016 season, crossing back and forth between New York, Paris, Milan, and London. During the off-season, though, she's a full-time student at university in her home town of Amsterdam, where she takes classes twice a week and spends the rest of the time split between modeling looks and shooting campaigns, and writing her thesis. Yet prior to her start in the industry, Naves confessed that she was something of a neophyte: "I didn't know anything about fashion. I was like, 'Oh, what is this all?'" she said of her first show opening for J.W. Anderson. "I didn't realize that it was such a good designer." As she's cultivated a greater understanding and appreciation for the ins and outs of the biz, she's developed a more nuanced perception of fashion. Her beauty routine, though, sticks to what she knows — and that includes icons like Audrey Hepburn and Maya Angelou.
