Blinged-out inner-city nail salons sporting chairs embedded with Swarovski Elements and neon nail enamel are the latest multimedia installation from Chicago-based artist Dzine, best known for his over-the-top riffs on Latino design culture. On September 7 Dzine sets up shop (yes, the salons are open for business) in New York at the gallery Salon 94, which will also offer the artist’s 24-karat-gold nails and photo booths in which visitors will be able to document their own handmade works of art. On September 9 the installation opens in the window of the New Museum of Contemporary Art.
