Wannabe Vezzoli

Francesco Vezzoli has never shied away from alluding to himself as the high-end escort of artists, borrowing the glamour of movie stars and the rococo grandeur of old masters to sell his own persona as professional provocateur. Today marks the beginning of the Italian rapscallion’s week-long takeover of Nowness, but the most characteristic product of Vezzoli’s virtual residency has likely already dropped: An app, Wannabe Vezzoli, that lets anyone create a Vezzoli of their very own, with just a few clicks. Pick a baroque frame, a background (we suggest the Coreggio frescoes), a star (Liz Taylor, forever), and embroider with one of the artist’s signature stitched tears. As the artist himself would probably admit—he’s easy.
