In 2007, the American lawyer Michael Cioffi bought most of Castiglioncello del Trinoro, a medieval Tuscan village, and thoughtfully went about restoring it. There, he also established Monteverdi, which boasts three luxury villas, a rustic 10-room inn, a restaurant, and an artist-in-residence program (the Turner Prize nominee Spartacus Chetwynd opened a show there in September). A film festival curated by Wes Anderson is also in the works.
