Last night as the sun set over the Hudson river, some of the world’s best photographers, publishers and journalist gathered at New York’s Chelsea Piers for International Center of Photography’s annual Infinity Awards. This year’s winners included the affable Larry Fink and celebrated fashion photographer Mario Testino—who came to the stage after a heartfelt introduction from his friend and muse, Naomi Campbell. Snapping a photo of the seated crowd, which included Karlie Kloss, Carolina Herrera and Leelee Sobieski, Testino took a moment to acknowledge the outstanding activism of the evening’s other winners including photojournalist Tomas van Houtryve’s haunting drone project and young star Evgenia Arbugaeva’s images of outer Siberia. “What I’ve seen tonight has given me a lot to think about,” Testino said. “We need to come together more.” He didn’t need to wait long. The audience applauded in full force when artist Graciela Iturbide stepped up to accept her lifetime achievement award. “I will use this as motivation to work harder on my photography,” Iturbide remarked humbly.
