Raf Simons’s debut at Calvin Klein was, without hyperbole, the most anticipated show of New York Fashion Week this season. On a crisp Friday morning, as the snow began to recede from the streets following Thursday’s blizzard, the Raf crew (Leelee Sobieski, A$AP Rocky), the Calvin crew (former Calvin Klein campaign star Brooke Shields chief among them), and everyone in between (Millie Bobby Brown, Simons’s new face of Calvin Klein by Appointment, Greta Gerwig, Sofia Coppola) braved the chill for the occasion. They entered the Sterling Ruby-designed installation (the artist himself a longtime friend and collaborator of Simons) with bated breath, clad in their all-American finest. Actress Naomie Harris wore a plaid, asymmetrical Rosetta Getty top; Gerwig, a chambray shirt under a sleeveless wool vest. It was Kate Bosworth’s simple ensemble that stood out most of all, though, embracing both the new Calvin and the old in one look: She wore a classic white t-shirt, Simons’s redesigned Calvin Klein logo printed across the front.
Who: Kate Bosworth.
When: Friday, February 10.
Where: Front-row at Raf Simons’s debut for Calvin Klein during New York Fashion Week Fall 2017 in New York, New York.
What: A white Calvin Klein logo t-shirt tucked into medium-wash jeans with black ankle boots.
Why: We called it first: With Raf Simons’s freshly redesigned Calvin Klein logo, vintage Calvin t-shirts are about to become a whole lot more of a hot commodity. Case in point — Bosworth wears the updated version of a classic t-shirt, at once paying homage to the brand’s heritage (as Simons himself did in the Fall 2017 show) and enjoying its new direction. Paired with the medium-wash, mid-rise jeans — the most classic of classics — that have been a staple of Calvin Klein since the start, Bosworth proves she’s all about her Calvins. How better to celebrate a giant of American ready-to-wear than in a t-shirt and jeans?
