We've long known that a peek into Kim Kardashian West's Instagram Stories are a peek into the absurdity of celebrity culture and the lives of the wealthy. This is nothing new.
But what is new, and completely unexpected, is logging on for some quality lobotomy time—i.e., mindlessly tapping through Instagram Stories—to find that amid the chaos of the rapidly spreading coronavirus and the practice of social distancing, a lobster has made its way to the pavement right in front of Kardashian West's home.
Based on her "What is happening ?!?!" caption in the video, Kardashian West seemed to be just as confused as the rest of us about the crustacean on her street. Clearly, this lobster is just trying to practice social distancing from the rest of its species—something we could all stand to do as much of as possible right now.
It remains to be seen whether or not the West family has decamped for Wyoming during the COVID-19 pandemic. A photo of Kanye West that Kardashian posted to her main grid makes it hard to tell where, exactly, the family is located right now. But even if they are still in Calabasas for the time being, how did a lobster make its way to their street? The crustaceans can only live out of water for about 36 hours, and that's if they're kept moist and refrigerated.
In any case, nothing seems more end-time than a random lobster appearing on the pavement in front of the home of one of the wealthiest families in America.
We guess that lobster got the memo about hiding in Kardashian West's room-size fridge to survive the apocalypse.
