Laura Benanti Shows Up Broadway

What: A Jonathan Simkhai Pre-Fall 2016 body-con midi dress and a Lee Savage clutch.
Why: From the front, Benanti’s dress is flattering and sophisticated, if a bit conservative. But what look like pockets from the from are actually the tail ends of a swooping crossed back that lends the front of the dress its asymmetrical touch. It’s subtly designed but vividly rendered, and her cross-strapped pumps and reflective box clutch kick up the edge factor just enough to show up the Broadway crowd.
