Last month, Lily-Rose Depp, muse of Karl Lagerfeld, made her runway debut during Chanel's Métiers d'art show at the Ritz Paris. It was really just a matter of time for the young Depp scion, the daughter of Johnny and Vanessa Paradis, who has repped Chanel on the red carpet at Cannes and beyond as her burgeoning film career develops. She strode across the dining room of the Ritz in two looks — a black mermaid-style tulle dress and a gold crop top and trousers — accompanied by Chanel veterans like Cara Delevingne and newcomers like Pharrell Williams. While many houses opt for a more casual look during pre-season collections, Chanel goes demi-couture; the Métiers d'art collection showcases the house's artisans each year, migrating around the world and recruiting the brand's favorite collaborators to walk the runway. And, just as it was only a matter of time before Depp appeared on the runway for Lagerfeld, it was only a matter of time before she selected a piece from the Métiers d'art show for a red carpet appearance. Here, in the midst of couture week (where she landed the prestigious closing slot in the Chanel show as the bride on Lagerfeld's arm), she revisits her modeling debut in a cropped bodysuit with a tiny velvet jacket.
Who: Lily-Rose Depp.
When: Thursday, January 26.
Where: The annual gala benefitting French anti-AIDS organization Sidaction during the Spring 2017 couture collections in Paris, France.
What: A Pre-Fall 2017 embellished bodysuit with a cropped jacket from the Chanel Métiers d'art collection, where Depp made her modeling debut at the end of 2016.
Why: It's no secret that Chanel is her look, both on the runway and off. Here, she sports a bit of a matador vibe with a cropped black jacket with gold piping, balanced with a mod embellished bodysuit, also cropped. Amid all the formal gowns on the red carpet during the Sidaction gala, Depp stands out by offering her own take on the formal jumpsuit trend — the Chanel take, naturally.
