R.I.P. Mary Tyler Moore: Celebrities Take to Social Media to Mourn the Icon

Mary Tyler Moore died Wednesday at age 80. The beloved actress and comedian was best known for her work on The Dick Van Dyke Show and her own Mary Tyler Moore Show, though she also proved formidable in dramatic fare, receiving an Oscar nomination for Ordinary People. Her onscreen work was an inspiration to many, as she debuted one of TV’s earliest models of the working woman, while simultaneously sticking it to anyone clinging to the delusion that women aren’t funny. One look at Moore’s work, and you know otherwise.

In addition to her contributions as an actress and creator, Moore was also a fierce advocate for diabetes research after her diagnosis with Type 1 diabetes at age 33.
