Last year they paired Lady Gaga (at the helm of a Damien Hirst-designed Steinway) with Francesco Vezzoli and Bolshoi ballerinas, and on November 13 the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, will engage its annual gala guests with an interactive artwork by artist Doug Aitken. LA-based Aitken selected musicians Beck, Devendra Banhart and Caetano Veleso—all of whom have participated in the arts—to join him in The Artist’s Museum Happening, which will combine music, dance, and visual arts to create a memorable exchange between guests and performers. The Happening runs alongside MOCA’s “The Artist’s Museum” exhibition, featuring work from over 140 artists chosen for their contributions to the growth of Los Angeles’ art scene over the past three decades.
Eighteen artists created one-of-a kind posters for the event, which will plaster the interior the gala’s unique venue—a structure designed by architect Barbara Bestor. We exclusively unveil four of these posters—from artists Hisham Akira Bharoocha, Raymond Pettibon, Steve Roden and Tyler Warren—below:
