The art world rallies around Planned Parenthood.

Tavi Gevinson and Sarah Ramos

On Friday evening a flock of powerful women in creative industries, including Thelma Goldin and Tavi Gevinson, gathered in New York for a very special art auction celebrating Planned Parenthood and its almost 100 years of advocacy for women’s reproductive rights. Held uptown at Sotheby’s, the celebratory sale was hosted by an impressive trio of female artists—Laurie Simmons, Cindy Sherman and Marilyn Minter—who joined Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards in rallying the art world around the female focused non-profit. The auction brought in more than $2 million thanks to an outstanding collection of donated blue-chip works by an impressive list women and men alike including Ed Ruscha, Jeff Koons, and Nan Goldin. A pleasant foil to the Frieze frenzy, the evening showcased the incredible influence of a united feminine front.
