Purple Dragon, a new members-only club for children and their parents in south London, is a 10,500-square-foot complex boasting Marcel Wanders light fixtures, Arne Jacobsen chairs, an organic restaurant and a nail salon. Its founder, Sharai Meyers—Roland Mouret’s former backer—says that the sleek decor is meant to appeal to its design-conscious young members as much as to their parents. “A lot of children’s environments can be very bright and colorful, but many children in London grow up in sophisticated environments, so that’s reflected here,” says Meyers. The cost of a full membership—around $4,200 a year—includes classes for newborns through 12-year-olds in subjects ranging from Mandarin nursery rhymes to fashion styling and debate.
