Bucking Seattle’s sartorial stereotypes, at the forward-thinking boutique Totokaelo (pronounced toh-toh-kye-oh)—which brought the likes of Yohji Yamamoto, Ann Demeulemeester, and Mary Katrantzou to Seattle back in 2003—demand for the decidedly un-flannel-y fashions was outstripping supply. So much so that founder Jill Wenger is opening a new lofty space that’s seven times the size of the original. And possibly even more exciting, there are equally progressive offerings for the home: Rick Owens’ HUN line will live alongside Lindsay Adelman chandeliers, Maison Martin Margiela Objets, and the in-house line designed by Wenger that she describes simply as “neo nature.”
