On Tuesday, the final day of Paris Fashion Week, fashion month ended on an erudite note with Louis Vuitton's Fall 2017 show at the Louvre museum — a fitting milieu for the venerated French brand. It was the first time that the Cour Marly had been opened up for the fashion crowd, and to mark the occasion, just about every single Nicolas Ghesquière muse showed up. Michelle Williams was there; so were Jennifer Connelly, Jaden Smith, Sophie Turner, and American Honey co-stars Sasha Lane and Riley Keough, both of whom wore a whole lot of Louis Vuitton on the press tour for their film.
While the front row certainly got its fashion fix, actress and former model Keough also showed off the ideal wardrobe for taking in 17th and 18th century French sculptures in the grand central courtyard of the museum. Black and white and red, c'est chic.
Who: Riley Keough.
When: Tuesday, March 7.
Where: The Louis Vuitton Fall 2017 show in the Cour Marly sculpture garden at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, France.
What: A mock-neck black and white short-sleeved shift dress from the Pre-Fall 2017 collection with a checkered black and white bag and red ankle boots from Spring 2017, all by Louis Vuitton, with ear cuffs.
Why: Keough's look combines the sporty edge of Nicolas Ghesquière's most recent collections with a mod gloss — checkers with red boots, a carefree silhouette with carefully flat-pressed hair. The red boots are a nice homage to International Women's Day, even if a day in advance, and the minidress is casual yet polished, a perfect afternoon-at-the-museum aesthetic for taking in a fashion show with some art on the side. Regulars at the Metropolitan Museum of Art should take notice — especially if New York's remaining flagship designers decide to take a cue from Ghesquière at the Louvre next season.
