What: A dinner celebrating the launch of Swallow Magazine’s “Mexico City” issue, prepared by D.F.’s celebrated Contramar and MeroToro restaurants.

When: Wednesday, July 10.

Where: The bare bones backyard at Res—Frank Castronovo and Frank Falcinelli’s part-time food lab in Red Hook, Brooklyn—was transformed into a white tablecloth affair for the evening.

Who: Martha Stewart, LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy and Nancy Whang, artist Miguel Calderon, and several hungry food journalists.

Why: Swallow’s Creative Director James Casey and the esteemed guest chefs who flew in from Mexico for this event, put together a six-course seafood-focused tasting menu that lured many Manhattanites across the bridge. As standout dishes such as Oysters with Calf’s Feet Vinaigrette and the Fish Pastor Taco were being washed down by Pierde Almas Mezcal, it became harder and harder to remember whether we were in Brooklyn or Condesa.
