For the beauty look at Thakoon's Fall 2016 show, makeup artist Diane Kendal drew inspiration from the glamour of '80s supermodels like Linda Evangelista, Christy Turlington and Cindy Crawford. She used a little bit of shimmer on the models' eyelids, stain on their lips and properly applied blush in the shade "Deep Throat" on their cheeks. "It's really just enhancing the girl's natural colors," she explained backstage in a Facebook Live interview with W.
Similarly, the hairstylist Odile Gilbert chose a glamorous yet natural route, accentuating the models' natural hair textures by, in some cases, using only plain water as a styling tool. That's right, the stuff you can get right out of the tap. (Kendal, for what it's worth, used exclusively NARS products.) For more advanced looks, Gilbert also applied copious amounts of Kérastase Crème de la Crème (almost an entire bottle of product per person) to everyone's hair as a finishing touch, and piled the resulting strands at the top of the skull for a glistening topknot effect.
When the models finally hit the runway, dressed in expertly tailored slacks, layers of knitwear, and muted tones, they exuded the magic of being the most beautiful girl in a room full of awkward squares.
