Right on the Nail

Who needs “arm parties” of bracelets and fistfuls of rings, when all the jewels a girl could want are at her fingertips? Here, the nail artist Tracylee mirrored Verdura’s 75th anniversary Theodora limited-edition cuff. “I used just a few elements of the motif—broken gold lines and a handful of stones—to keep it minimal,” she says. She did, however, heighten the gloss factor by imitating the piece’s enamel finish with Sally Hansen Miracle Gel, then applying the gems and dashes of gold polish before glazing the nails with a supershiny topcoat.

Metal Worker Fall’s gold mine of polishes offers endless ways to strike it rich. “Multiple tones is the current take on metallics,” says Tracylee, who dipped into Gucci’s new Bold High-Gloss Nail Lacquers, which come in a range of 25 colors. The dark and glittery Iconic Gold (bottom) is one of five hues based on the house’s signature shades; Metallic Sand (top) is a lustrous champagne. “It’s especially cool when your accessories add even more metals to the mix,” Tracylee says. A grab bag, if you will.

Totally Stoned
“I love copying patterns from nature,” says Tracylee, who created the tortoiseshell nails for the Rodarte Spring 2014 runway show, as well as this opalescent look. “The hardest part was finding just the correct blue undertone.” She settled on Treat Collection Nail Polish in Mint Julep, then swiped on a few coats of OPI Nail Lacquer in Rose of Light, an iridescent glitter that imparts a rainbow-flecked effect. According to folklore, wearing opal helps one find true love. Color us smitten.
