In case you haven’t noticed, the annual Burning Man festival has just begun, and will continue through September 3 in the Nevada desert. While an estimated 70,000 people Burners flock to the Black Rock tent city in the desert, regular attendees aren’t the only ones to enjoy the catharsis that comes from seeing over-the-top sculptures and temples constructed only to be removed days later with no trace of their existence. Celebrities and models can be Burners, too, and 32 years after the first Burning Man festival in 1986, Susan Sarandon and Paris Hilton have seemingly become the patron saints of celebrity Burners, and have a solid history of showing up for the past few years (Sarandon even spread the ashes of counter-culture legend Timothy Leary across the desert at Burning Man in 2015), proving that no matter what your age is or which sect of Hollywood you come from, you can be a Burner. Even models like Karlie Kloss and Cara Delevingne tend to trek to the desert to get their fix, too. In honor of the history of celebrities glamping for Burning Man, here are some of the best shots of the Mad Max-esque fantasy land as seen through the eyes of celebrities over the past few years.
