On opening morning of Frieze London, hours before doors opened to 70,000-some expected attendees, the fair’s grounds quite literally became a playground for Instagram’s finest to snap, hashtag and filter their way through the multifarious visual offerings. MoMA’s PS1’s director Klaus Biesenbach joined Instagram’s power posse—which included Angela Goding, Kristen Joy Watts, JiaJia FeiMolly Gottschalk, and Job Piston—on a private tour of the fair, with the opportunity to stop and sometimes play with works by artists Carsten Höller, Cory Arcangel, Mike Bouchet, and Liza Lou. Alongside all the selfies, there were moments of serious reflection with conversations about copyright and authorship, ignited by the work of Berlin-based artist Simon Denny.
