Mexican baby turkeys, calf brains with bacon, and flaky pie crusts garnished with pig feet — these were all par for the courses chez Dalí, where the Surrealist artist was known to throw extravagant dinner parties with his wife, Gala. Having harbored culinary aspirations since the age of six, Dalí even published a cookbook, Les dîners de Gala, in 1973, delineating “Dalinian gastronomics” in 136 recipes and nearly as many out-there illustrations and philosophical interjections. It’s been selling for thousands of dollars in the decades since, but is finally getting a reprint from Taschen this week — just in time for Thanksgiving.
