Greta Gerwig Has Always Been the Master of Quirky Sophistication

Greta Gerwig

For someone widely recognized as the face of the film movement known as “mumblecore,” Greta Gerwig is not one for quiet fashion. Since gaining mainstream success for her role in Greenberg, in which she starred alongside Ben Stiller, the actress has been a staple on the red carpet, where she started her career in mod-inspired little black dresses, before moving on to more sophisticated and vibrant pieces from the likes of Chanel and Gucci. Most recently, the actress co-starred in two hit films–Jackie and 20th Century Women–which saw her navigating the awards circuit with aplomb. Up next, the star will make her directorial debut with Lady Bird, a comedy-slash-drama featuring Saorsie Ronan and Lucas Hedges due out later this year. In anticipation of many more red carpets moments to come, a look back at Gerwig’s best ensembles thus far.
