PFW FALL 2017

The Beret Is Paris Fashion Week’s Most On Brand Trend

At Maria Grazia Chiuri’s Fall 2017 collection for Dior, every single look that came down the runway came topped off with a chapeau. And not just any hat: the beret, France’s unofficial national accessory. Chiuri punctuated that point that this is about to become a must-have piece for Parisians and beyond, loaning one the hats to Rihanna who perched front row in a head-to-toe black Dior ensemble; a walking, talking “you know want to look like this” advertising campaign. Earlier this week, Bella Hadid took the look for a spin, topping off an edgy crimson look with a beret, giving the overall vibe a complete 180. Altogether, the message is clear: you don’t have to be a French girl to rock a beret anymore, as proven previously by models and It girls Gia Coppola, Elsa Hosk, and Irene Kim, as well as Gucci, (and the brand’s loyal flock of Gucci girls), who has previously been a major proponent of the trend. Here, all the ways to rock the look.
