Cropped, slicked, or quilled, “it’s all about the short cut right now,” says the hairstylist James Pecis, who chopped model Sarah Brown’s shoulder-length locks into a boyish shag. Taking inspiration from looks he created for the Paris-based label Wanda Nylon’s fall runway show, Pecis went for a sort of layered bowl cut, intentionally leaving a little extra length in the back. “It’s not a mullet,” he clarifies. “It has a softer look around the nape that’s very of the moment.”
