The thought of four more years of President Obama is very exciting, but what Michelle will be wearing to the Inaugural festivities comes in as a close second. Last year, an Isabel Toledo suit and Jason Wu gown cemented her as this generation’s first lady of fashion, so what will she do to preserve her title? We wager a few guesses…

1

“I would love to see Michelle Obama buck tradition and be the first First Lady to go for a dressed-up pant suit for the oath.”

2

“Swap out the bag and shoes for more ladylike pieces and I think this Marc Jacobs ensemble would look killer on her. Plus, she definitely has the height to pull off the longer coat.”

3

“Michelle made a splash in bubblegum pink at the second presidential debate, and I think she should bring it back for the inauguration. It would be quite the Jackie O moment.”

4

“This saffron color Proenza Schouler dress is a bit edgy, but she has never shied away from bright colors, and would stay true to her support of younger American designers.”

5

“Maybe it’s time for a repeat of her Jason Wu moment from the first Inaugural Ball. Though this Deco look is a far cry from 2009’s ethereal white gown.”

6

“Definitely a more daring, and revealing, option, but this classic J. Mendel gown would look gorgeous on her—and show off her famous arms!”

7

“Politically speaking, this sophisticated 50’s silhouette might be a nod to the Golden Age, but it’s also just a beautiful dress fit for such a momentous evening.”
