Just when you thought that you mastered back-to-school style, New York’s art school students are teaching us all that a lesson is in order for next semester. Classes are back in session at Parsons School of Design and New York University—the latter is, lest you forget, the place where a young Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen truly perfected their boho style—meaning that the teens and twenty-somethings have returned from their time abroad and summer internships to reassert their reign over the streets of lower Manhattan. (And, of course, the center of their kingdom: Washington Square Park.) Meanwhile, over in Brooklyn, the kids at Pratt Institute have been giving them a run for their lunch money, pulling out their own dark green and black lipstick, pink and purple hair, and even pom pom earrings to accentuate the unofficial art-school uniform: a pair of Superga sneakers, a tote, and a plastic bag from the art supplies store Blick. See some of the best looks they’ve all showcased so far, here.
