On the Ground at the New York City Women's March
In New York City on Saturday, hundreds of thousands of marchers stood in solidarity with those participating in Women's Marches happening around the world. The crowd gathered on the Upper East Side of Manhattan and made their way West up Fifth Avenue towards Trump Tower. The number of protesters was far more than anticipated and the already-congested city came to a complete standstill, with traffic forcibly stalled between Second and Fifth and marchers reciting slogans aimed at the new president: "Hey hey, ho, ho, Donald Trump has got to go." Energy remained high throughout and everyone from babies in strollers to elderly with walkers lingered in the streets until long after dark. See photographs from the scene, here.
