It’s difficult to believe that amid the fantastical looks Vivienne Westwood designer Andreas Kronthaler sent down the fall 2020 runway in Paris, the standout pieces were, in fact, knives. Red, white, and blue headpieces in the shape of Marge Simpson’s hair; sparkling boots; Little Red Riding Hood capelets with animal ears; medieval ribbons, and Bella Hadid in a sheer wedding dress came second to the accessory which defined the show: daggers hooked onto some of the models’s belts. Slung around their hips were Game of Thrones-esque blades in sheaths—Hadid held onto hers while she closed out the show in her white gown, something of a warning to any potential suitors who thought her to be a reticent bride. Kronthaler and Vivienne Westwood herself joined Hadid with a bouquet of flowers while they posed for pictures at the end of the presentation. Westwood held onto Hadid by the waist, standing dangerously close to the place where her shank was stowed.
