After less than three years at the helm of Balenciaga, Alexander Wang may be parting ways with the storied house, a new report by WWD claims. According to the paper, the brand and its parent company, Kering, will not renew the designer’s contract and his last show will take place during Spring 2016 fashion week in Paris. Just this month, Wang appeared in a W story discussing how he balances Balenciaga and his own eponymous brand. “My own company bears my name, and I’m the end point of everything that happens there,” he said. “But here, I’m a variable in a very different equation—one that was in place before me and will continue on after I’m gone. Essentially, I’m just another employee.” The designer’s alleged ousting, and whether another “employee” will take his place, has yet to be confirmed.
