She’s nailed the persona on camera with the princesses and the period pieces and thus emerged as a wholesome, even elegant young role model—a radically alternative lifestyle by modern Hollywood standards. Still, she’s no prude—you saw Brokeback Mountain. It seems the smart glamour (Valentino is a frequent red-carpet favorite) and graceful comportment Hathaway presents are for real. And there’s that skin. In a sea of sprayed-on Hollywood bronze, hers is an alabaster glow. There’s just no faking that.
