That’s My Best Friend: A Guide to Social Media’s Most Ubiquitous BFFs

Before celebrities like Bella Hadid and Kylie Jenner became some of the most followed people on the planet—and more importantly, before Instagram—they were regular girls with regular best friends. And as they’ve risen into prominence, so have their loyal companions. Even Rihanna has kept her childhood friend from Barbados, Melissa Forde, by her side the entire time—from the club to the basketball court.

Today, Forde has over 800,000 followers of her own, and flaunts an equally bold sense of style, as well as a taste for hilarious memes. (It’s no wonder she and Rihanna are friends.) But unlike other celebrity BFFs, being there for bad gal seems like Forde’s full time job. Women like Jordyn Woods, on the other hand, who is Kylie Jenner’s best friend, have almost 3 million followers and modeling contracts of their own. Jesse Jo Stark as well, who is one of Bella Hadid’s closest acquaintances, is an aspiring musician and member of the Chrome Hearts fashion family.

Why they’re tight: Both growing up in Los Angeles, their parents were close. Stark’s family founded Chrome Hearts, which Hadid recently collaborated with for her own capsule collection. They can often be seen vacationing together or hanging out at the brands headquarters. ****

Why they’re tight: Ford was Rihanna’s childhood best friend back in Barbados. She’s always by her side, from events to basketball games. They seem to have a ton of fun together, and according to Forde’s Instagram, they share the same sense of humor and bold style.
