Skin Coating
I love winter—skiing, building fires, making soup—but not the season’s red, chapped skin. To stave it off, I start with Soveral Angel Balm, a beeswax-based face wash with calming rose-geranium essential oil. I then pat on Cellcosmet Switzerland Ultra Intensive Elasto-Collagen XT to jump-start collagen production. Next comes Kypris Antioxidant Dew, a serum with hydrating sea algae and soothing rose. Finally, I use Biologique Recherche Creme Masque Vernix. Yes, vernix, as in the gross, waxy film babies emerge coated in. Biologique’s founder, Dr. Philippe Allouche, re-created the stuff for adults, with proteins, peptides, and lipids that make my complexion look, if not newborn, then certainly younger. At night, I apply ProX by Olay Nightly Purifying Micro-Peel, which uses three different acids to remove dead skin cells, prepping my face for Chanel Hydra Beauty Masque, with moisturizing camellia and blue ginger, a potent antioxidant. Hmm, I wonder if you could make a soup with that…
