Chloë Sevigny Debuts the Last of Her Maternity Street Style Looks

It's for a good cause, too.

Of course Chloë Sevigny wouldn’t be among the celebrities fleeing the city to hide out on the West Coast or upstate, even as she’s nine months pregnant. The Lower East Side icon has confirmed that her due date is quite literally tomorrow, April 30th, but that hasn’t stopped her from stepping out in one final maternity street style look. Of course, it’s for a good cause.

Unfortunately, the pandemic has sort of put a damper on our initial fantasies of how Sevigny may reinvent maternity style, but in an interview with The Cut, the actress revealed she wasn’t that excited by the prospect of it, anyway.

“My boyfriend suggested that we have a dress-up day, but we never implemented it,” she said. “But it’s hard, between corona and my state, to be fashionable. That’s kind of gone out the window. I keep reminding him, though. I’m like, ‘People think I’m a really stylish woman!‘”

She revealed she’s mostly been relying on a few stretchy Norma Kamali pieces, some bucket hats, and Birkenstock mary janes. Oh, and face masks, of course.

Earlier today, however, she debuted a new piece on Instagram: a shirt designed by her friend, the stylist Haley Wollens. “Keep New York old and rotten,” it declares.

It’s for a good cause, too. Documentarian Nicolas Heller, better known on Instagram as @NewYorkNico, has launched a contest in conjunction with boutique Alumni to reimagine what the classic “I ♥ NY” shirt might look like if it was more appropriate for 2020. “This is a competition to lift the spirit of our beloved city and to support those in need,” Heller wrote on Instagram. “We’re challenging you to spark New York pride with your ORIGINAL design. The three designs that best define New York in 2020 will be produced on t-shirts to be sold for charity. ”

So there’s no guarantee you’ll be able to snag Sevigny’s favorite design, but we’re sure the winners will be fire if this is just one of the entries.
