Dries Van Noten: Inspirations
While most designers reveal their seasonal inspirations in show notes and backstage interviews, Dries Van Noten is offering explicit insight into his creative process with a new exhibition—Dries Van Noten: Inspirations, at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. The show, which will open just three days after the Belgian designer’s floral-filled Fall 2014 runway presentation, juxtaposes nearly 200 pieces from his past collections with artworks (19th-century masterpieces, Francis Bacon paintings), film stills (Stanley Kubrick’s Clockwork Orange, Jane Campion’s The Piano), and couture garments (Elsa Schiaparelli, Christian Dior). Art show? Fashion show? Sure, why not. Just don’t call it a retrospective—Van Noten is just getting started.
“Dries Van Noten: Inspirations” will run from March 1st to August 31st at The Musée des Arts Decoratifs; 107 rue de Rivoli, Paris.
