Elena Ghisellini: In the Bag

The accessories designer for Givenchy has quietly been working on an eponymous collection

Let’s face it. These days, behind every great fashion brand, there is a great accessories designer. In Givenchy’s case, it’s Elena Ghisellini. The Italian, who first made her mark at Ferragamo, has been in charge of Givenchy’s bags (including the widely popular Nightingale and Pandora) since Riccardo Tisci took the helm as creative director in 2005. On the side, she’s also been quietly working on her eponymous line of zoomorphic accessories, and now the cat’s about to come out of the bag—quite literally. Her fall collection, which includes a purse that resembles a kitty’s muzzle (below) and a top-handle satchel covered in leopard-print ponyskin, is getting a big push from the online retailer my-wardrobe.com.
