Ellis Faas got through airport security with this

When we met Ellis Faas, the brilliant Amsterdam-based makeup artist, for breakfast the other day, she was wearing a carrying case so terrifyingly cool we had to share. Fass, whose cosmetics line is inspired by what she calls “human colours” (think blood, veins and bruises — but flattering!), has a leather holster that holds 27 lip colors, each encased in a sleek silver bullet. Faas (we wrote about her in the February issue) isn’t planning to retail the holster; sitting down in it is not exactly comfortable, and few women need more than 20 lipsticks at a time. But in keeping with her G.I. Jane-theme, Fass tells us she is designing a small travel case inspired by the circular barrel of a gun.
