Talk about a quick turnaround. A year after being handpicked by Harvey Weinstein and Tamara Mellon to serve as creative director of Halston, Marco Zanini parted ways with the label in July. To recap, Zanini showed his first—and only—collection for Halston during New York Fashion Week this past February, to much anticipatory hype. His understated designs, however, disappointed those who had expected the Versace alum to produce va-va-voom, red carpet–ready dresses. Fashion critics and retailers were generally underwhelmed as well. Weinstein, whose company is an owner of the brand, and Mellon, a member of Halston’s board to whom Weinstein looks for creative input, apparently agreed with them. No successor had been named at press time. Stay tuned.
