In the new film Serena, Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence play George and Serena Pamberton, newlyweds in Depression-era North Carolina who are managing a timber business and their own personal challenges. The reunion of the two actors (who co-starred in Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle) was hardly a coincidence. After reading Christopher Kyle’s script, Lawrence immediately thought Cooper would be perfect for the role of the husband.“Any male role is going to make me think of Bradley,” said a Dior couture-clad Lawrence at a screening of the film on Saturday night, hosted by the Cinema Society and Dior Beauty. “He’s the best. I love working with him.” The admiration, of course is mutual. “I just learn from her,” Cooper said. “You always want to work with people that are better than you.” For this film in particular he might have been referring not to acting but horseback riding. Filming on set in the Czech Republic was the first time Cooper had ever ridden a horse. “He was unbelievable at it,” said Lawrence, who grew up riding horses in Kentucky.
