On Wednesday evening, Tom Ford kicked off New York Fashion Week with a star-studded show--both on the runway and off. While supermodels like Cindy Crawford, Karlie Kloss, and Doutzen Kroes joined Kim Kardashian, Ciara, and Ansel Elgort in the front row, girls of the moment, including Binx Walton, Vito Cerretti, and Amilna Estevao, hit the runway in clingy gowns, loose leather separates, and structured jackets.
Supermodel duo Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner both emerged in the show's final section, wearing sheer, ruched gowns. It was their hairstyles, however, that garnered the most attention of the evening, as both models wore their hair in chic faux pixie styles that resembled the Kardashian matriarch, Kris Jenner, and her spiky 'do.
This isn't the first time Jenner has paid channeled her mother's iconic pixie cut. At the 2015 American Music Awards she wore faux bangs with a tousled top knot, while Hadid sported a swept back faux bob that looked like her own mother's hairstyle.
Both models have a history of transforming their recognizable looks for fashion--the duo appeared as placebo pets in W's 2016 art issue by Ryan Trecartin and even swapped hair colors at Balmain's Fall 2016 fashion show. Hadid made waves when she debuted bangs at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards, and when she wore a pixie style wig she in the recent Stuart Weitzman ads.
Jenner, too, has been known to quietly change up her style over the years, revealing her transformations both on the red carpet and to her 83 million Instagram followers (much just like older sister, Kim Kardashian, who debuted long, silvery blonde locks at the Tom Ford show and after party). Last season, Jenner debuted a new look during New York Fashion Week, closing La Perla's NYFW Fall 2017 show with a chic, chin grazing bob.
What's next? There's still an entire week to go.
