It’s hard to forget that there was once a time when Kim Kardashian wasn’t an entrepreneur or a mogul, but rather a simple reality TV star who was willing to do pretty much anything in the name of Keeping Up With the Kardashian ratings. In one particularly memorable episode, Kardashian found herself as a guinea pig for the terrifying beauty treatment known as the Vampire Facial. Kardashian, along with her sister Kourtney, underwent the bloody procedure for Kim and Kourtney Take Miami back in 2013 — but it wasn’t until today that the beauty mogul shared what she truly thought of it.

As it turns out, getting a vampire facial is one of Kardashian’s biggest beauty regrets. She wishes she didn’t get the treatment, not because of the results, but because of the pain she had to endure throughout it. “Before I got the procedure, I just found out that I was pregnant, so I couldn’t use numbing cream or a pain killer and both are suggested,” she wrote in a blog post. “It was really rough and painful for me. I couldn’t tell anyone about the pregnancy either, but I pulled Jonathan [Cheban] aside and told him.”

If she hadn’t been filming Kim and Kourtney Take Miami there’s a chance that Kardashian would have backed out before the facial was completed. “My show was also filming the treatment, so I felt I couldn’t chicken out,” she shared. “It was honestly the most painful thing ever!”

But was it worth the results? According to Kardashian, the answer is a resounding no. “Even though it wasn’t for me, I know it has so many benefits for your skin,” she says. “Kourtney is a huge fan and I know a lot of other people that love it, too.”

These days, Kardashian’s skin seems to be doing just fine without vampire facials. While her routine contains a lot less blood, it does include Dr. Lancer cleanse. “Then I use a hyaluronic acid and then a La Mer serum and then a thick moisturizer on top that changes from either Guerlain or Dr. Lancer moisturizer. After I have a clean face, even if I’m going for a fresh look, I use my KKW beauty contour sticks to warm up my face, then highlight,” she told W last fall. As for the best beauty advice she’s received: “Wear sunscreen.”
