Marc Jacobs’ Off-Duty Dancers

Backstage beauty secrets from the pros.

Marc Jacobs Resort 2016

If the Marc Jacobs Resort 2016 show is any indication, hair accessories are coming back in a big way. “The look was inspired by a Martha Graham off-duty dancer with a nod to an eighties downtown girl,” explains Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau, who created the show’s wrapped updos. To get the look, the stylist began by blowing out models’ hair with Redken’s Satinwear 02, and raking it into a chignon with Move Ability 05 Defining Cream-Paste. Palau completed the “punky” look by wrapping the head with a black fabric wrap, and spritzing with Redken’s forceful 23 super-strength finishing spray. The final flourishes: thick, drawn-on brows and a few coats of Marc Jacobs’ cherry red “Lola” nail polish, courtesy of manicurist Jin Soon Choi.
