If you thought meeting your boyfriend's family was intimidating, just imagine if his grandmother was the Queen of England.

That's the situation for Meghan Markle whose recent forays in public with Prince Harry have led to reports that things are headed towards a royal wedding, even if the Prince seems to want to keep things very low-key and private. Though the longest-serving monarch of the British Empire and the Suits actress had already met face-to-face back in September, nothing's really official in England unless you've had some tea. So now, they've had some tea—and not just any tea, but high tea.

According to the Daily Mail's source, Markle arrived at Buckingham Palace on Thursday, October 12, in a "Ford Galaxy with blacked out windows." The meeting, in the Queen's private sitting room, was "deliberately informal," and Queen Elizabeth's husband, Prince Philip, was not in attendance. The get-together began around 5 p.m., the Queen's "favorite part of the day," when she likes to drink tea and snack on a selection of scones and sandwiches. According to the source, the get-together with Harry and Meghan lasted "almost an hour."

"I can tell you that at the end of the day I think it’s really simple," Markle previously told Vanity Fair of her relationship with the redheaded royal. "We’re two people who are really happy and in love. We were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news, and I was working during that whole time, and the only thing that changed was people’s perception. Nothing about me changed. I’m still the same person that I am, and I’ve never defined myself by my relationship."

That may be true for Markle, but to the rest of the world, this meeting of American actress and British royal is a real life fairy-tale. And it just got one significant step closer to coming true.
