Forget creative block—jewelry designer Nancy Hankin struggles to fit her abundance of big ideas into a small medium. “Finding the technical help in executing my designs becomes the task for me,” says Hankin. “Anything is possible, but I have to force my imagination to stop.” Hankin considers her 14-karat gold pieces “wearable sculpture,” and indeed her rings, such as one set with a Biwa pearl and a row of sapphires, are quite the statement-makers. Likewise her diamond-studded cuffs, which Hankin likes to see worn on each wrist. “I’m not usually a matchy person,” she says. “But in this instance, it’s a powerful look, almost like Wonder Woman.”
