“The inspiration was a bit androgynous—not too masculine, not too feminine, something in between,” explains manicurist Deborah Lippmann of the Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2015 beauty look. In contrast to the clean, light nails of seasons past, Lippmann created a custom “dirty sheer” polish by mixing exactly eight drops of her Fade to Black hue into a bottle of clear Hard Rock base and top coat. “It’s very modern, very edgy, very different for Narciso,” she says. As for the makeup, Dick Page kept things simple save for a strong, dark brow he created with three shades of Shiseido’s Eyebrow Styling Compact. “I’m asking my guys to pay attention to the root of the hair color because that gives you a clue, particularly for blondes, how deep and strong you can go with it,” he says. Stylist Paul Hanlon gave models sleek side parts and brushed-out curls, scraping Oribe’s Molding Paste and Original Pomade through the roots first with a comb, then with fingers. “It’s got the feeling that the girl just walked in and put her fingers through her hair,” he says.
