Opening Ceremony

Chalk it up to the presence of progenies and slashie-generation social media stars, but this season’s runways saw designers favoring personality over uniformity. “There’s really not one singular idea of beauty anymore,” Redken Global Creative Director Guido Palau said backstage at Alexander Wang. “It’s all about bringing out your personality and adding little nuances here and there that really make a look feel more special and unique.” Similar sentiments were expressed at Brother Vellies, Tibi, and Opening Ceremony, where members of the New York City Ballet replaced models on the runway. At Tommy Hilfiger, hair stylist Eugene Souleiman washed some models’ hair and let it dry naturally; on others, he did nothing. “She came in, we left her. She looks gorgeous,” he cooed as Imaan Hammam strolled past. Finally, a look we can all try at home.
