They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, but in the case of 17-year-old Ava Phillippe and movie star mom Reese Witherspoon, it seems like they're one and the same. Phillippe is a spitting image of Witherspoon—which isn't exactly a groundbreaking observation, given how genetics work—but in their latest joint red carpet appearance, it can be difficult telling the two apart.
Witherspoon brought Phillippe along to the premiere of her latest project, HBO limited series Big Little Lies, and to make matters even more confusing for those of us who suspect they may be twins, they wore coordinating belted metallic dresses.
Though, they don't mind people confusing them. Witherspoon told E! News it actually happens all the time.
"People come up to her [all the time]," Witherspoon said. "We were at a premiere and they were congratulating her on her performance. She's like, 'I'm not in the movie.'"
Just don't expect Phillippe to be the next celebrity scion to leverage her name and genetics into a public career of her own anytime soon. Per her mom, Phillippe isn't really looking to follow in the movie-making footsteps of her mom and dad, Ryan Phillippe, but she's as supportive a daughter as they come. The teen later took to Instagram to share a snap of herself and her mom, and congratulate the entire cast of the series.
"So proud of my awesome mama and her passion for this project," she wrote. "It is so nice to see these wonderful, talented women in roles just as dynamic as they are. #biglittlelies."
