Inbox: From The Ritz Paris with Love

This past Spring, the Ritz Paris closed its doors for the first time in 114 years for an extensive restoration of its interiors. Eager to stay keep in touch with its loyal clientele, the hotel sent each of its nearest and dearest a signature bright blue personalized Ritz Paris hard hat.

For decades, the Ritz Paris has served as the home away from home for fashion set. When the buzz of fashion week would descend on the city each season, designers, celebrities, and fashion editors alike could invariably be spotted stepping out of the hotel’s bustling revolving doors en route to a show, or pausing for a drink at the famous Hemingway Bar. This past Spring, however, the beloved hotel closed its doors for the first time in 114 years for an extensive restoration of its interiors. Eager to stay keep in touch with its loyal clientele, the hotel sent each of its nearest and dearest a signature bright blue personalized Ritz Paris hard hat. W magazine’s Stefano Tonchi, along with his team of fashion editors, traditionally made the The Ritz his home base during each Paris fashion week. This week, he was delighted to receive his own hard hat and a standing invitation to evaluate the restoration in person and to return when the hotel finally reopens in 2014.
