In reporting on the filming of Bruno, Sacha Baron Cohen’s follow-up to Borat, in which he plays a gay Austrian fashion reporter, Web sites such as IMDB and the Smoking Gun, as well as newspapers like the UK’s Sunday Mirror and the Minneapolis Star Tribune, have referred to the full title as Bruno: Delicious Journeys Through America for the Purpose of Making Heterosexual Males Visibly Uncomfortable in the Presence of a Gay Foreigner in a Mesh T-shirt. It may be an apt description, but it’s an entirely fictional title—Mark Lisanti, the former editor of Defamer.com, wrote it as a joke back in October 2006. “I hope some focus group decides it’s the best of the 10 unwieldy subtitles presented to them,” Lisanti says, “so I can launch a frivolous lawsuit like the ones filed by all those Borat ‘victims.’”
