Stuart Weitzman’s Nudist Sandal Gets a Blingy Upgrade

Stuart Weitzman’s minimalist ‘Nudist’ sandals have become something of a sensation on the red carpet and IRL—so it’s no wonder the designer decided to up the ante with a new customization program. With Swarovski crystal designs in various hues and designs, the well-heeled crowd can now design their own blinged out version of the flattering barely-there—for a limited time only, of course. How did the idea for this customization program come about? We wanted to up the glam factor with this popular silhouette… what better way than with Swarovski crystals?

Why do you think the Nudist has been such a hit with celebrities? The shoe goes with everything, plus it’s a beautifully sexy minimalistic design, which is comfortable… that combination is hard for any woman to pass up.

A lot of actresses, singers, and models have been spotted wearing Nudists multiple times. Who are some of the style’s top fans? There are so many who have come to love the Nudist as much as I have—so it’s hard to pick a top fan, but some of my favorite recent sightings have been Jennifer Lawrence, Gigi Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski.

Can you think of any other shoes you’ve designed that have caused a frenzy as extreme as the Nudist has? Yes, but [they] are boots—the 5050 and the Highland/Lowland.

What are some of your favorite ways you’ve seen women wear the Nudist? I like when it is styled in more casual ways off the red-carpet, like with skirts, shorts and leather pants.

Who is your dream customer for these special customized shoes? The impossible dream—Marilyn Monroe.
